sandwich Inn and Suites Direction

if you are using a GPS, most seem to like the address format as 14 MA-6A Sandwich, MA.  If Sandwich Inn and Suites does not come up, try searching for the Shady Nook Inn, which is what the place was called before we changed the name.  Or, try searching for Twin Acres Ice-Cream, which is across the street from the inn.  When coming into the cape on either bridge, stay straight on 6A and the inn is the very first property after the Entering Historic Sandwich Sign in the Kiwanis Park at the split with 130 to historic Sandwich and Tupper Road toward the Canal.  Coming down Rt 3 over the Sagamore Bridge, take exit 1C, go past Market Basket to Sandwich Road, then turn right and we are about a mile on the right.  If coming over the Bourne Bridge, take the fourth exit towards Hyannis on Sandwich Rd travelling along the lower side of the canal.

Stay Safe With sanwichinn and suites

We have small buildings and motel rooms here with doors that open to the outside, so you just drive up to your room. No elevators or interior hallways, no going past lobbies, no encountering anyone. All of our rooms have windows that open, with screens on them. Fresh air, anytime. All heat and air are from room units only. We have solid-surface floors, no carpet. Easy to clean, no dust can hide. We use duvet covers which are washed clean for every guest. No unwashed blankets or bedspreads.

OPEN?

We are open for business. We will keep the following safety rules in place indefinitely and will notify all upcoming reservations of any changes.

MASKS?

Our staff will be wearing masks and using gloves. However, because guests drive up to their rooms and enter from the outside, guests are not required to wear masks other than coming and going into our lobby.  Please note that the state does require masks for everyone in public, so you should have one.

REMOTE CHECK-IN?

Yes, you can contact us and we can arrange for the keys to be left out for you. Or, when you arrive, you can call or ring the doorbell and we can bring them out and set them out for you. Or, you can always come into the lobby and check-in, but we will take one guest at a time, and everyone has to wear masks.

BREAKFAST?

We will have mostly individually-wrapped items to be picked up, including muffins, gluten-free breakfast bar, yogurts, egg sandwiches, whole fruits, bottled juice etc. Guests can also call the front desk and we can put requested items in a bag and leave them on our patio for pickup.

ENHANCED CLEANING?

After a guest checks out, the room will be left vacant for as long as possible. Guests in rooms will be spaced as far apart as possible. Guest rooms will be disinfected as much as possible, which means wiping with a disinfectant all hard surfaces that are touched, like switches, handles, tabletops, faucets, etc. We will also spray a disinfectant in the room and on surfaces like shower curtains.

DO NOT DISTURB?

We will try to minimize contact and maintain social distancing. So, we will not enter your guest room without your permission. If you require anything like fresh linens, contact us or leave a note on your door and we will leave new ones for you outside your door.

AMENITIES?

We will still supply soaps and shampoos, as well as In-Room Coffee and Tea, which is a hot water kettle and instant coffee packets, which are actually pretty good. We will still leave our guest laundry and vending room open and leave it up to guests to protect themselves accordingly.

EASY CHECK-OUT?

We will charge the method of payment used to book. No need to come into the office to check-out. Note that we will not be accepting cash for payment.

foliage at sandwich- inn and suites

INTRODUCTION: WHAT IS NEW ENGLAND FOLIAGE AND WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT IT

Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut make up the six states that collectively make up the northeastern United States region known as New England. One of the most distinctive features of this region is its spectacular display of fall foliage, or the changing colors of the leaves on deciduous trees. Every year, from late September to early November, millions of visitors flock to New England to witness this natural phenomenon and enjoy the crisp autumn air, scenic drives, cozy accommodations, and seasonal activities.

But what causes the leaves to change color? And why is New England such a prime destination for leaf-peeping? The answer lies in the unique combination of climate, geography, and biology that creates the perfect conditions for a colorful show.

The main factor behind the color change is the decreasing amount of daylight in autumn, which triggers a chemical process in the leaves. As the days get shorter and colder, the green pigment called chlorophyll, which is responsible for photosynthesis, breaks down and reveals other pigments that were previously masked. These pigments include carotenoids, which produce yellow and orange hues, and anthocyanins, which produce red and purple hues. The amount and intensity of these pigments vary depending on the type of tree, the soil acidity, and the weather conditions.
