The Quirky Side of Plymouth MA
The Quirky Side of Plymouth, MA Unique Attractions and Oddities
Plymouth,
Massachusetts, known for its rich history as the landing site of the Mayflower
in 1620 and the Plymouth Rock, also has its quirky side with unique attractions
and oddities. While I don't have real-time information on specific places like
the "Sandwich Inn and Suites," I can offer you some general
suggestions for offbeat and interesting places in Plymouth:
Plymouth Rock and Pilgrim
Memorial State Park: While not exactly quirky, Plymouth
Rock is a must-visit. Its historical significance might make it seem ordinary,
but the park itself has interesting exhibits and monuments. You might find some
unexpected gems as you explore the area.
Richard Sparrow House: This
historic house, built in 1640, is one of the oldest surviving homes in
Plymouth. It's now a museum and might have some peculiar artifacts or stories
waiting to be discovered.
Plymouth's Underground
Railroad Trail: Explore the Underground Railroad history in Plymouth.
While not odd, it provides a unique perspective on the town's past.
Burial Hill: This
historic cemetery dates back to the 17th century and is the final resting place
for many early settlers. It might sound morbid, but exploring old cemeteries
can be fascinating and offer a glimpse into the town's history.
Pilgrim Hall Museum: Visit
the Pilgrim Hall Museum for an extensive collection of artifacts from the
Mayflower Pilgrims. You might come across some unusual items or exhibits that
pique your interest.
Antique Shops in Sandwich: If
you're interested in odd and unique items, explore some of the antique shops in
Sandwich, a town near Plymouth. You might find quirky items that tell their own
stories.
Local Events and Festivals: Check
for any local events or festivals happening during your visit. Sometimes, these
events can be quirky, featuring unique performances, art installations, or
activities.
Brewster Gardens and the Jenny Grist Mill: Stroll
through Brewster Gardens, a lovely park along Town Brook, and you'll come
across the historic Jenny Grist Mill. While not quirky, it adds a picturesque
charm to the area. The mill, although not operational, stands as a reminder of
Plymouth's industrial past.
Remember, the charm of quirky attractions often lies in the
unexpected discoveries you make along the way. Feel free to explore the
lesser-known corners of Plymouth, and you might stumble upon some hidden gems.

OMG , this place is AMAZING! Rooms are clean and spacious. The landscape and parking is well maintained. Customer service was supreme! This is my GOTO place in Sandwich for sure!
ReplyDeleteWe had a chance to stay at the Sandwich Inn during our recent trip to Cape Cod. The Inn is very quaint in a classic New England style. There is a small restaurant and a bar that was loaded with local folks the night we visited. Our room was very special - a four-poster bed in a large room with interesting decor. Beautiful.||The Inn is located on a very quiet street - easy walking to local sites and small shops. A great place for a romantic getaway.
